Turin, Italy

Turin, Italy, was my host city and my absolute favorite place I’ve ever been. It is the most underrated Italian city by far, with numerous historic buildings and cathedrals, as well as its bustling city atmosphere. For the best pastries, definitely go to Pastarell; I still dream of those. For authentic Italian dishes, make sure to go to Pasta e Basta; the owners are super kind, and the food is amazing. For the best gelato in Turin, go to La Romana; I can’t even count the number of times we went there.

If you want to grab a drink, Jumping Jesters is an Irish pub downtown that has a lively atmosphere. There is also Alibi, which is a great place to start before clubbing.

The street markets are a huge part of its character—places like Porta Palazzo, one of the largest open-air markets in Europe, are full of fresh produce, local specialties, and vendors selling everything from cheeses to handmade goods. It’s the perfect spot to wander, sample bites, and get a feel for everyday life in the city.

The River Po runs right through Turin, giving the city beautiful walking paths, bridges, and scenic views. Along the river, you’ll find several parks, including Parco del Valentino, one of Turin’s most beloved green spaces. It’s ideal for picnics, relaxed walks, or just taking a break from exploring.
